She moved to Canada in 2000 when she was offered a position as a software development consultant in Toronto.

Kirsten’s writing career started during this time in her life. Her work included the development of websites and their associated content. At around the same time, she was invited to become a regular volunteer writer for an ezine that published three times a week.

In 2009, Kirsten founded her personal blog, Running For Autism. The blog, originally intended to describe her journey from couch potato to half-marathoner and her quest to help her son with autism, now deals with a wide range of topics, including physical and mental health, fitness, family/parenting, autism and special needs.

Through Running For Autism, Kirsten quickly became established as an influential Canadian blogger with a large audience. In 2010, she entered the international blogging arena when she became a regular writer for World Moms Blog, an organization that she is now a senior editor for.

Over the years, Kirsten has done a variety of freelance writing assignments. In 2013, she left the corporate world in order to pursue a full-time writing career.
